Claims

National shipments

National shipments have a standard coverage of €1.00 per kg (tax not included) in case of loss, damage, or delivered but not received.

Poste Italiane calculates the refund amount on the grams, they do not round up the kilos. Example: If parcel is 500 grs, the refund amount would be:

0.50 kg x €1 = €0.50

International shipments

International shipments have the following coverage in case of loss, damage or if they are delivered but not received:

Road: 8.33 SDR* (CMR) = €10.25 per kilo
Air: 17 SDR (Warsaw Convention) = €20.91 per kilo

Poste Italiane calculates the refund amount on the grams, they do not round up the kilos. Example: If parcel is 500 grs, the refund amount would be:

0.50 kg x €10.25 = €5.13
0.50 kg x €20.91 = €10.46

*1 SDR = €1.23 (2021 conversion rate)

Important: If the declared weight at the time of shipment creation does not match the weight recorded by the carrier, a cost correction will be applied based on the actual weight category. Claims must be submitted within the following timeframes:

Lost shipment	Within 21 days from the first scan in the carrier network

Delivered but not received	Within 2 days of the delivery scan

Parcel drop-off: Remember that you can also drop off your parcels at SDA depots.
What is SDA?
SDA stands for SDA Express Courier, which is a subsidiary of Poste Italiane, the national postal service of Italy. SDA handles domestic and international shipping, logistics, and express courier services. In this context, SDA is the carrier responsible for collecting or receiving your parcels either via pickup or drop-off at their depots.

Please keep in mind that collections (both incidental and recurring) are subject to carrier's availability.

Incidental pickups

You can schedule an incidental (one-time) pickup with Poste Delivery Business directly from your Sendcloud account. Read our article How can I request a parcel pickup? for the instructions.

Recurring pickups

Lite, Growth, and Premium users can request recurring pickups directly from the Sendcloud panel. Read our article How can I request a parcel pickup? for the instructions.

The activation can take 3-4 days.

Pickup returns

Pickup returns are also possible with Poste Delivery Business when your customers want to organize a return. The pickup is booked automatically when announcing the label (no need to schedule it manually online or by phone). Read more about pickup returns in this article: Pickup returns.
