Delivery Attempts
National:
- The shipment includes 2 delivery attempts.
- NOT@HOME procedure: After the first delivery attempt (recipient is absent), the package can be redirected to a BRT-fermopoint (choose from 3 pick-up points located within 1-3 km from the delivery address). The recipient has 10 days to collect the package from the fermopoint before it goes into storage for another 10 days. If the package is not collected, it will be returned to the sender and the courier will apply an additional charge. If there is no BRT-fermopoint nearby, there will be a second delivery attempt on the next working day after the first failed attempt. BRT will inform the recipient via Alert.
- After the second failed attempt, storage is opened for 10 days at a cost of €4.27; during these 10 days, it is possible to unlock the storage by providing us with the unlocking instructions:
- Same address
- New delivery address (a surcharge may apply if the delivery to the new address is handled by a different branch from the initial one).
- If we do not receive any instructions within 10 days, the shipment will be returned to the sender at the cost of the initial shipment.
- Each time the storage is unlocked, the new shipment includes 2 delivery attempts. If the shipment cannot be delivered again, new storage will be opened at a cost of €4.27.
- In the event that the delivery address is incomplete or the shipment is refused by the recipient, storage is opened immediately without a second attempt.
International:
- Depending on the destination, 1-2 delivery attempts. After the specified number of attempts, the shipment will be returned to the sender with a surcharge:
| Number of delivery attempts | Countries |
| 1 | Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, France (Chronopost), Germany, Luxembourg, United Kingdom, Spain |
| 2 | Bulgaria, Estonia, France (DPD), Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Slovenia, Switzerland, Hungary. |
In Finland and Sweden, shipments will be delivered directly to the pick-up point.
- If delivery is not possible due to an incomplete/incorrect address or the recipient is absent, the package will be put into storage for 7 calendar days. During these 7 days, it is possible to unlock the storage by providing us with the unlocking instructions. Once this period expires, the packages will be returned to the sender and all additional service costs will be charged.
- 2Home: €5.20
- 2Shop: €4.27
Incompatible Packages
A package is classified as incompatible if it cannot be processed by automated machinery and requires specific manual handling, resulting in increased costs. The handling and processing of shipments containing one or more non-transportable packages lead to longer loading and unloading times and sorting times, less optimization of loads, and greater difficulty in organizing delivery rounds.
Incompatible packages are identified by BRT warehouse staff (at any branch from departure to arrival) who recognize a package that cannot be automatically sorted and falls within the descriptions of the "incompatible package manual."
- The cost may apply to: BRT Express, BRT Priority (12:00), BRT 10:30, BRT Express to Fermopoint, BRT Returns from Fermopoint.
- BRT does not photograph any shipments in the warehouse; it is not possible to review how the package appeared later.
Some reasons for applying this surcharge are:
- A package/envelope that is too small and/or light. These packages do not stay in position on the conveyor belt they are placed on (they fly off due to the speed of the package sorting machine) with the risk of ending up in the rollers and being torn/destroyed, as well as damaging the sorting machine; or they are not pushed by the mechanical arms that direct packages on the conveyor belt and risk slipping and being damaged between the mechanical arm and the conveyor belt.
- A package that is too large/bulky.
- Fragile products (e.g. liquids, paints, flowers, glass products, etc.)
- Inadequate packaging
- Irregular shape that does not allow for stacking
This surcharge is automatically applied when at least one of the following conditions occurs:
| Packages | Pallets | ||
| Dimensions | Shape | Dimensions | Shape |
|
Length: 150 cm Height: 75 cm Width: 75 cm Sum of the 2 longest sides: 180 cm |
Irregular shape (i.e. not parallelepiped) such as tires, cans, rolls, rods... | Base dimensions: 120x120 cm |
Irregular shape that does not allow stacking, i.e. creating a regular support surface that allows stacking other material on top of the pallet. |
Cost:
- BRT Express, BRT Priority (12:00), BRT 10:30: €2.21
- Fermopoint: €2.13
To learn more, please read the BRT manual for incompatible packages.
Exceeding maximum weight limit (Domestic)

After the 100 kg, the charge will be + €34.06 for every 100 kg. See the table below:

Ferry & Remote Area Surcharge
Ferry and remote area surcharges are combined into one. This change allows the surcharge to be automatically applied at the time of parcel creation.
For example, a parcel going to a remote area in Sicily will incur a single surcharge of €9.45, instead of two separate surcharges of €1.00 (ferry) and €8.45 (remote area). How to avoid this surcharge?
-
To avoid surcharges when shipping to remote areas,
you may consider using an alternative carrier like
Poste Delivery Business. This can be automated with
our shipping rules so that you still keep shipping
with BRT to normal addresses but switch to Poste
Delivery Business when the delivery address is located
in a remote area. To automate this, follow the next
steps: Download this .csv file if you want to use
Poste Delivery Business Express Domicilio or this
other .csv file if you want to use Standard Domicilio
> Log into your Sendcloud account and go to Shipping
> Shipping Rules > Click Upload file > Upload
the file you just downloaded. Once the upload is
completed, you will see a new shipping rule, which
you can preview on the right or edit if necessary.
This shipping rule will allow you to ship with Poste
Delivery Business to all the remote postal codes
mentioned in the conditions, and therefore avoid
the remote area surcharge applied by BRT.
