Purpose: This article gives an overview of the Boxes feature, which can be used to automatically fill in dimensions before creating a label, and to streamline your packing processes. This feature is available to users on all plans.
Why use the Boxes feature?
Boxes are a feature that can serve two different functions:
- Fill in shipment's dimensions automatically while creating a label. This is particularly important when you ship with carriers that require parcel dimensions, or apply volumetric weight, like DHL Express and UPS.
- Streamline your packing process: When a box is assigned to each order with shipping rules, packers will know which box to use without spending extra time trying to find the perfect fit.
How to add a box
To add a box, follow these steps:
- In your Sendcloud panel, go to Shipping > Boxes
- Click +Add box
- Enter the name and the dimensions
- Check the box Default if you want to make it your default box
- Click Save when ready
How to edit or delete a box
- In your Sendcloud panel, go to Shipping > Boxes
- Edit: Click the pen icon next to the box that you want to edit > Make the necessary adjustments > Click Save
- Delete: Click the bin icon next to the box > Click OK to confirm
Use shipping rules to automate the workflow
Shipping rules will set a box for incoming orders automatically. This will help you automate your processes.
For example, you can set a rule based on the actual weight of a parcel: all orders above a weight of 5kg should be packed using "Box 2- Double Strength". When the order appears on the screen, the person packing the order will be prompted to use Box 2 for orders weighing 5kg+.
If you use Pack & Go, it will now suggest the appropriate box to use.
