Purpose: If you have multiple packages or orders to be delivered to the same receiver address, this is a guide on how you can create a multicollo shipment to combine multiple boxes into one delivery.
How to combine packages into a single delivery
💡Tip: Using your own carrier contract? Contact the carrier for multicollo invoicing details.
To create a multicollo shipment, follow these steps:
- In your Sendcloud panel, go to Shipping > Orders > Incoming Order View and select the order.
-
When creating a multicollo shipment, you can choose between:
- Basic parcel information – All parcels have the same weight and dimensions.
-
Detailed parcel information – Each parcel can have different weights and dimensions.
- Increase the number of shipments to the desired amount. The order will now be handled as a multicollo shipment
- On the 'Created Labels' view, you will see a "Multicollo" label so you can see which parcels are announced together. Click the eye icon to view the details and see the linked shipments.
- Each collo or box will be assigned it's own tracking number and receive individual tracking updates.
Basic parcel information: All parcels in a multicollo shipment must have the same weight, you cannot mix different weights (e.g., 1 kg and 5 kg in the same shipment). The total shipping cost is calculated as: (Price for one parcel) × (Total number of parcels).
Detailed parcel information: Parcels in a multicollo shipment can have different weights. The shipping cost is calculated based on the individual price of each parcel.
Insure multicollo shipments
To insure a multicollo shipment, add insurance per label, as opposed to per order. The insurance amount is to cover the value of the goods per label and not the total value of the order. E.g.: If you create 3 labels as part of a multicollo shipment, you have to add insurance to each of those labels (3 times).
Cancel multicollo shipments
If you cancel any single label in a multicollo shipment, all the shipments associated will be cancelled. If there is a single shipment you do not want to ship, then you must create a new multicollo shipment with a revised amount of parcels.
International multicollo shipments
When shipping internationally, if customs documents are required, they should only be attached to one parcel in the shipment.
Attaching customs documents to multiple parcels within the same multicollo shipment can result in duplicate charges for taxes and duties imposed by customs authorities. To avoid unnecessary costs or clearance delays, ensure that:
- Customs documents are placed on only one parcel within the shipment.
- The information on the customs documents accurately reflects the contents of the entire shipment.
- The parcel carrying the customs documents is easily accessible for customs inspection.
If the carrier supports Paperless Trade, customs documents will be sent electronically, and no printed documents will be needed. Check here if your carrier supports Paperless Trade.
Multicollo returns
It’s also possible to create returns for multicollo shipments via the Return Portal.
Based on the tracking number, the returns portal will prompt a user when multiple packages are associated with a tracking number, and then ask them how many boxes will be returned with a shipment. When two or more boxes are selected for return, the correct number of labels will be automatically generated.
