📦 Packaging & weight surcharges
Weight
If you choose a shipping method and mark that the order weighs a certain amount, but when it is scanned by Correos, the weight is higher, this will generate a surcharge of the difference in rate to the corresponding weight. Please take into account the volumetric weight. If the volumetric weight is higher than the real weight, Correos will invoice this value.
How to calculate the volumetric weight?
Correos uses the following formula: length x height x width (in cm) divided by 6,000.
You can also calculate the volumetric weight using our volumetric weight calculator.

📍 Shipping zone surcharges
Wrong shipping zone
If the parcel is declared as zone 1 (within the same province) but is actually shipped from a different zone (2 or 3) a surcharge will be applied accordingly.
Example: The label shows a sender address of Madrid and a destination address of Madrid, but you drop the package in Barcelona, a surcharge will be applied for declaring zone 1 while it is actually sent from zone 3.
Zones
There are seven zones:
- Provincial: Shipments within the same province
- Regional: Shipments to a neighboring province
- Peninsular: Shipments to other regions within Mainland Spain and Andorra, excluding neighboring provinces.
- Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla: Shipments from Mainland Spain to the Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla
- Canary Islands: Shipments from Mainland Spain to the Canary Island
- Canary Islands (interisland): Shipments from one of the Canary Islands to another
- Portugal: Shipments from Spain to Mainland Portugal.
Where can I see these surcharges on my invoice?
Surcharges are applied by the carrier after the shipment has been processed and may not be visible when you create the label.
You can find these charges in your Sendcloud account via Account > Billing, where you can download your invoice in PDF or CSV format:
- PDF invoice: Shows a summary of your total costs, including surcharges.
- CSV invoice: Shows a detailed breakdown per shipment, including the tracking number, shipping cost, and any applied surcharges.
💡 Tip: Use the tracking number in the CSV to identify which shipment a surcharge applies to.
