Export declaration (Dichiarazione di Libera Esportazione)
A 'declaration of free export' is required whenever you send a parcel from Italy to a country which is outside of the European Union. This document is also a requirement whenever you ship from Italy to the United Kingdom. This document is needed by customs officials, both at the Italian border and border of the destination country, to confirm that the parcel contents are not subject to restrictions according to European regulations.
How do I fill in the declaration?
Whenever you create an international shipment in Sendcloud from an Italian sender address, the export declaration will be automatically generated, alongside the commercial invoice for any Sendcloud-supported non-postal carrier. At the present moment, this includes:
- FedEx
- UPS
- GLS
- DHL Express
- BRT
Tips for filling in the declaration:
- Print three copies of the declaration per shipment.
- Ensure that each copy bears the signature of the sender. Take extra care to sign every copy individually. Alternatively, you can add upload your signature in your Sendcloud account and assign it to your sender address. That way, the signature will be automatically added to your customs documents when you print your label.
- The invoice number and creation date are automatically added to the document when you print your label.
- Don't forget to print three copies of the commercial invoice and attach this to the parcel, in addition to the export document.
