Purpose: In this article, we explain the surcharges that UPS Italy may apply if you do not follow their shipping requirements.
Please note: The carrier may change the shipping prices and/or surcharges mentioned below, therefore these prices may be subject to change. Even though we aim to inform you to the best of our abilities, no rights can be derived from the information provided below.
Important: When you ship with UPS using the discounted rates offered by Sendcloud, several commonly applied surcharges are already included in the label price.
Thanks to this advantage, you don’t have to worry about additional costs for:
- Fuel surcharge
- Home delivery (residential)
- Remote area surcharge (Delivery Area Surcharge - DAS)
Even though these surcharges may appear on the official UPS website, with Sendcloud rates you won’t be charged for them separately: more transparency and no surprises on your invoice.
Note: All international shipments using Sendcloud rates are generated under Incoterm DAP (Delivered at Place). This means that any applicable customs duties or charges are the responsibility of the recipient; if the recipient refuses to pay or accept the shipment, it will be returned to the sender, who will be liable for both the shipping and customs charges.

| Adult signature required | Use "Adult Signature Required" to prevent minors from accepting deliveries of goods for legal or other reasons. This may apply to alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, but also to goods that you prefer an adult to receive. |

| Direct delivery only | "Direct Delivery Only" ensures a package is delivered to the address on the shipping label. Packages shipped with Direct Delivery Only may not be rerouted, redirected or delivered to an alternate address. Direct Delivery Only packages are eligible for Driver release or Letter box release at the labelled address. | UPS carbon neutral | UPS carbon neutral is a more responsible way to ship. For a small flat fee per package or pallet, UPS will purchase carbon offsets to offset the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions associated with the transportation of your shipment. The offsets purchased offset the carbon impact of your shipments by reducing emissions elsewhere through support for environmental projects. |

| Special handling of undeliverable shipments | For all shipments within the EU and for all domestic shipments, when UPS has made every effort to deliver the shipment but has been unable to do so, it will return the goods to the sender using UPS Standard service (where available). Return charges, which include transportation and fuel costs, will be charged to the sender, except for domestic shipments that cannot be delivered, in which case the charges will be billed to the party who paid for the initial shipment. For all destinations outside the EU, UPS will contact the sender and proceed with the return according to their instructions. The sender will be charged the shipping costs and an administrative fee for each of these undeliverable shipments. |

| Additional handling service | Additional Handling applies to the following: • Any article that is encased in an outside shipping container made of metal or wood • Any cylindrical item, such as a barrel, drum, pail, or tire, that is not fully encased in a corrugated cardboard shipping container • Any package with the longest side exceeding 100 cm or its second-longest side exceeding 76 cm • Any import, export or domestic package with an actual weight greater than 25 kg. • Each import, export or domestic package in a shipment where the average weight per package is greater than 25 kg and the weight for each package is not specified on the source document or the UPS automated shipping system used. UPS also reserves the right to assess the Additional Handling Charge for any package that, in UPS's sole discretion, requires special handling. In consideration of the additional handling required on our part, and subsequent potential delays in processing these shipments, UPS does not provide a money-back guarantee for them. UPS does, therefore, not refund the shipping charges if shipments requiring additional handling are not delivered by the time normally scheduled for such shipment. |

| Large package | A Large Package Surcharge will be applied to each UPS package when its length plus girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)] combined exceeds 300 cm, but does not exceed the maximum UPS size of 400 cm. Large Packages are subject to a minimum billable weight of 40 kg in addition to the Large Package Surcharge. An Additional Handling charge will not be assessed when a Large Package Surcharge is applied. |

| Over maximum limits | Packages with an actual weight of more than 70 kg, or that exceed 274 cm in length or a total of 400 cm in length and girth combined, as measured to determine their billable weight, are not accepted for transportation. | On-call collection |
You can have your shipment picked up from your home or office by scheduling a collection service online at ups.com or by calling toll-free 800 877 877. UPS will pick up all packages with a single collection service request. A collection service may be scheduled for the same day or a future day. On-call collection service charge applies for Electronic Return Label, Print Return Label, and regular or alternate address pickup. Cash payments are available for on-call collection service. | Shipping charge correction audit fee | A shipping charge correction surcharge will be applied when a discrepancy is found between declared weights and dimensions and detected weights and dimensions such that the billed cost is 25% or more greater than the declared cost. The surcharge will be calculated per customer code, based on the corrections found in the applicable billing period. | €1.50 per shipment subject to a shipping charge correction during the applicable invoice period; or 8% of the total amount of shipping charge corrections during the applicable invoice period. |

| Other Government Agency (OGA) entry | Some commodities have to be regulated and controlled prior to export processing by a separate Governmental Agency (like the Ministry of Health, CITES, Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities or Ministry of Foreign Affairs). These types of commodities might be subject to specific clearance processes. Where this is the case, upon request by the shipper and provided that the shipper shares the required information and documentation, UPS will support exporters to expedite clearance by filing the required information (paper or electronic) with the respective Governmental Agency. |
