Purpose: In this article, we explain the surcharges that Evri UK may apply if you do not follow their shipping requirements.
Important: Between November 2 and January 3, Evri applies additional temporary peak-season surcharges on top of the regular fees. These include charges for:
- oversized parcels (£30)
- late collection cancellations (£250 if canceled 6–12 hours before arrival, or £500 if canceled within 6 hours).
We recommend canceling any scheduled collections at least 24 hours in advance to avoid these fees.
📐 Dimension & size surcharges
Surcharge for overweight shipments – £6.70
To ensure fair and accurate pricing, it’s essential that the weight and dimensions of each parcel are correctly declared when booking a shipment. If there’s a mismatch between the declared and actual details, we will apply the following charges:
What Happens if You Declare the Wrong Weight or Size?
If a parcel is booked with incorrect weight or dimensions, we will apply:
- A relabelling fee to cover the manual correction.
- The price difference between the rate you originally paid and the rate that should apply based on the actual weight and/or size of the parcel.
Examples
-
Under-declared weight:
If you book a shipment as a 400g packet, but the actual weight is 3kg, we will charge:- The relabelling fee
- The difference between the packet rate and the parcel rate.
-
Large under-declared parcel:
If you declare a parcel as 3kg, but it is actually 17kg, we will charge:- The relabelling fee
- The difference between the parcel rate and the Large & Light (L&L) rate.
What's the Difference Between a Packet and a Parcel?
A packet is a small, lightweight shipment, typically under 1kg and compact in size, often fitting through a letterbox. A parcel, on the other hand, is larger or heavier, requiring different handling and a higher shipping rate.
Accurate classification is important: if an item booked as a packet turns out to be a parcel, you’ll be charged the difference in cost plus a relabelling fee. Always check size and weight limits to avoid unexpected surcharges.
From Evri's T&C:
“It is the Client’s responsibility to ensure that it has accurately declared the weights and/or dimensions of the Parcels in the pre-advice file (or other documentation as agreed between the Parties).”
“Where Evri identifies Non-Compliant Parcels, Evri will charge the Client (and the Client shall pay to Evri upon demand) in respect of each Non-Compliant Parcel the difference between the applicable Rate of the actual weight and/or dimensions of the Parcel and the Rate of the declared weight and/or dimensions of the Parcel on the pre-advice file.”
“Evri may charge the Client per Non-Compliant Parcel for the costs and expenses of identifying and correcting the Non-Compliant Parcel.”
Surcharge for shipments within the weight range but heavier than declared – Rate difference + £0.95
Surcharge Outside of maximum allowed dimensions – £6.70
If parcel is booked stating incorrect weight category or / and incorrect dimensions, we will charge re-labelling fee + difference between the rate already charged based on pre-advice and the rate that should be applied based on actual weight / dimension.
As example, if label booked stating packet is 400g, but then we find it to be 3kg, we will charge re-labelling + difference between packet and parcel.
If parcel is booked stating 3kg, but found to be 17kg, we will charge re-labelling + difference between parcel and L&L rate.
From Evri's T&C:
“It is the Client’s responsibility to ensure that it has accurately declared the weights and/or dimensions of the Parcels in the pre-advice file (or other documentation as agreed between the Parties).
Where Evri identifies Non-Compliant Parcels, Evri will charge the Client (and the Client shall pay to Evri upon demand) in respect of each Non-Compliant Parcel the difference between the applicable Rate of the actual weight and/or dimensions of the Parcel and the Rate of the declared weight and/or dimensions of the Parcel on the pre-advice file.
Evri may charge the Client per Non-Compliant Parcel for the costs and expenses of identifying and correcting the correcting the Non-Compliant Parcel.”
Surcharge for parcels exceeding 40L cubic volume – £0.95
Evri calculates the cubic volume of a parcel using the following formula:
Cubic volume (litres) = Height × Length × Depth (cm) ÷ 1000
The cubic volume represents the volume of the smallest cuboid box that could contain the parcel in an uncompressed condition, including any outer packaging.
If the calculated cubic volume exceeds 40 litres, a £0.95 surcharge per parcel will be applied.
Example calculations
| Dimensions (H × L × D) | Cubic volume | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 15 × 40 × 10 cm | 6,000 cm³ = 6L | Within threshold |
| 25 × 40 × 20 cm | 20,000 cm³ = 20L | Within threshold |
| 40 × 40 × 30 cm | 48,000 cm³ = 48L | Over 40L – surcharge applies |

Surcharges are applied by the carrier after the shipment has been processed and may not be visible when you create the label.
You can find these charges in your Sendcloud account via Account > Billing, where you can download your invoice in PDF or CSV format:
- PDF invoice: Shows a summary of your total costs, including surcharges.
- CSV invoice: Shows a detailed breakdown per shipment, including the tracking number, shipping cost, and any applied surcharges.
💡 Tip: Use the tracking number in the CSV to identify which shipment a surcharge applies to.
