Objective: This article explains how customizable packing slips work in Sendcloud, what value they bring to your shipping process, and how to configure them to match your operational workflow and branding needs.
Why customize your packing slips?
Customizable packing slips help you streamline your packing process while improving the customer experience. By tailoring the layout, content, and format of your packing slips, you can:
- Reinforce your brand identity
- Improve picking and packing accuracy
- Provide clear information to customers
- Support returns and post-purchase communication
All packing slip settings are managed from a single place. These settings apply whether you print packing slips on their own or together with shipping labels.
Customize your packing slip settings
- Log in to your Sendcloud account
- Navigate to Shipping > Printing options
-
Go to Packing Slips

- Select your preferences for layout, content, and visual options, such as custom notes, product images, and highlighting item quantity.
- Click on Update settings
Packing slip customization options
Below are examples of how you can customize your packing slip:
- Custom notes: Add return instructions, request reviews, or include a personal message such as a thank-you note.
- Product images: Include images of ordered items to improve clarity during picking and packing.
- Highlight item quantity: Visually highlight products with quantities higher than one to reduce packing errors.
The example below shows a packing slip for a single order. Depending on your configuration, it can include your brand logo, barcode, sender and delivery addresses, the selected shipping method, as well as the product names, SKUs, and quantities.

Packing slips printed together with shipping labels
💡 Packing slips printed together with shipping labels use the same packing slip settings.
When selecting Packing slips + shipping labels, the packing slip and the corresponding shipping label are generated together in a single PDF. The output depends on the selected paper format:
- A6 format: the packing slip and shipping label are printed sequentially on separate A6 pages within the same PDF.
- A4 format: the packing slip and shipping label are combined on the same A4 page. In this case, you can configure how the label is positioned on the page, including its placement, and margins. This setup is intended for use with special A4 paper that includes an integrated label section.
Adding a QR Code & Custom URL Link to Your Packing Slip
In addition to the above, you can also add a QR code or custom URL link for returns:
- Return Portal Link: You can link the QR code to your return portal, allowing customers to easily initiate the return process by simply scanning the code with their smartphone.
- Custom URL Link: Alternatively, you can add a custom link (for example, a link to download the return label or to view specific return instructions) by selecting the "link" option in the dropdown menu.
- Customization Options:
-
- Explain the QR Code: Add explanation text to clarify the purpose of the QR code, ensuring customers understand how to use it.
- Disable QR Code: If you don't want the QR code to appear, uncheck the "Show QR code" option.
- Plan Requirements: To use the QR code feature, you must have a premium plan with the return portal feature activated.
