Purpose: GLS Belgium is migrating to a new unified European API. If you're currently using the old GLS Belgium integration in Sendcloud, you’ll need to update your setup by entering new credentials and connecting to the new GLS Europe contract.
This article guides you through the migration steps to ensure your shipping services continue without interruption.
Step 1: Get Your New API Credentials
To activate the new integration, you’ll need to collect the following details from GLS Belgium:
-
API Key/Username: This always starts with
056
and consists of 10 digits (e.g.,0561234567
). You can find it in your GLS e-Tool. - API Secret/Password: This is different from the password you use for the GLS portal (which starts with “YourGLS”). You can find it in your GLS e-Tool.
-
Contact ID: The contact ID is a unique link to your GLS customer number and consists of 10 characters (e.g.,
056A165x14
). - Country: Belgium
How to obtain these credentials:
Check your credentials in eTools, and if you have any questions, you can contact e-tools@gls-belgium.com.
Step 2: Add the New Contract in Sendcloud
Once you have your new credentials, follow these steps to activate the new GLS Europe contract:
- Log in to your Sendcloud account.
- Go to Shipping > Carriers > My Contracts.
- Click on "Add your own contract".
- Find "GLS Europe".
- Click "Add contract".
- Enter the credentials you obtained from GLS:
- API Key/Username
- API secret/Password
- Contact-ID
- Country
- Click "Add this contract".
- If applicable, deactivate your old GLS Belgium contract from your account.
You can find more info about the activation here: GLS Europe contract activation (Belgium) 🇧🇪
Step 3: Update Your Shipping Rules
If you’ve previously created shipping rules based on your old GLS Belgium contract, review and update them to ensure they are correctly applied to the new contract.
