Purpose: In this article, you can find the Post Austria shipping conditions. These are the terms and conditions set by Post Austria for sending parcels. 

Important note about address change 

If you ship from Austria to Germany, you can't change the delivery address because the carrier partner for this route doesn't allow it.

Post AT Shipping methods

Post Austria Home 

The Post Austria shipping method offers delivery of national shipments within Austria. Delivery to parcel service points is also possible. 

Characteristics of the shipping method:

  • 0-4 kg 
  • 4-31.5 kg 
  • Maximum weight: 4/31.5 kg 
  • Minimum dimensions: 12 x 10 cm
  • Maximum dimensions: L 100 x W60 x H 60 cm 
  • Maximum dimensions 0-2 kg packages: L 35 x W25 x H3cm
  • Maximum length (the longest side): 200 cm 
  • Maximum belt dimension: 360 cm*
  • maximum insured amount for domestic shipments: €510 
  • maximum insured amount for international shipments: €510

If you ship your parcel internationally and exceed the maximum insurance amount of €100, you can add an additional insurance via Sendcloud. You can find more information here.

For Boxable shipping methods, the maximum length is 100 cm. Please note that we do not support unboxable methods that exceed 100 cm in length.

Paket International Outbound Plus

🇺🇸 Shipments to the United States

Some carriers are temporarily suspending the acceptance of parcels destined for the United States starting Friday, August 22nd, 2025. This is due to recent changes in U.S. import regulations effective August 29th, 2025. So far, PostNL, Post Austria, DHL DE and bpost have communicated that they have temporarily suspended the acceptance.
The new U.S. requirements mandate pre-payment of duties and taxes, for which no operational solution is currently available. This situation is beyond their control and affects postal operators worldwide.
They are working closely with their international partners to develop a compliant solution and will notify us as soon as service can resume.

This shipping method is the right choice if you want to ship parcels weighing up to 31.5 kg and you want to get a proof of posting and receipt as well as insurance of up to a maximum of EUR 510. At the time of posting, you will receive proof of posting along with the item number. Parcels will only be given to the addressee if they sign for it and provides electronic proof of receipt.

Note: For Paket Plus International, including the recipient’s phone number allows a second delivery attempt if the first fails. Without it, the parcel is returned after one failed attempt.

  • Insurance: up to 510 EUR depending on the net-goods-value

**Different limits apply in this weight class. For the most used shipping destinations (e.g: Germany and France), the pricing is applicable up to 31.5kg. For other destinations (e.g: Canada or the United States of America), the shipping costs are based on the weight of the parcel. The dimensions L 35 x W 25 x H 3 cm should not be exceeded.

Fragile shipments

Our Post Austria shipping methods do not support fragile packages. This means that all packages, including packages with a fragile sticker, will be processed as a standard shipment. A fragile sticker does not guarantee the shipment will be processed as such. 

No claims can be filed for a shipment with fragile content, as the insurance is void.

Note: if you decide to use a fragile sticker, and Post Austria does take note of it and processes the package as fragile, you will receive a surcharge of 4,20 € for domestic shipments in Austria and 8,20 € for international shipments.

Parcel Drop-off and Acceptance

What to do if your shipment wasn’t accepted at the parcel shop

Sometimes, the Post AT does not recognize our label or cannot scan it.
We have created a guide for this, with which nothing should go wrong:
  • Parcel must necessarily be dropped off at the counter. Please note that "Paket Österreich" and "Paket Plus International" can only be dropped off at a Post AT post office.
  • The customer must make it clear that it is a "Großkundenannahme".
  • In the best case, the customer number of Sendcloud - 0022072740 - is indicated again.
  • If the barcode is not immediately readable; then please advise the staff that this process may take 45 to 60 seconds.
  • If it still does not work, please test the delivery again in another service point.   

Dropping off multiple parcels at a Post-AT counter

When you drop off several parcels at a Post-AT counter, you are required to provide a handover list (pickup report). This list is generated together with your parcel labels and must be signed and confirmed by the Post-AT employee at the counter.

How it works

  • One parcel scanned: At the counter, the Post-AT employee will physically scan only one parcel from your shipment.
  • Handover list confirmation: The signed handover list serves as proof of acceptance for all the other parcels in your drop-off.
  • Standard process: This procedure follows Post-AT’s

Important to know

  • If you do not provide a handover list, only the single scanned parcel will be officially accepted.
  • In that case, claims or reimbursements can only be made for the scanned parcel, not for the others.
  • To ensure all your parcels are covered, always bring and submit the handover list when dropping off multiple parcels.
