DHL Freight contract activation

Purpose: Learn how to connect your own DHL Freight carrier contract with your Sendcloud account.

Note: This carrier is only available as beta.

Step 1: Activate your Sendcloud subscription 

Sendcloud offers four subscriptions with which you are able to use your own transport contract: Lite, Growth, Premium and Pro.

Step 2: Enable your carrier contract in Sendcloud

In your Sendcloud panel navigate to Shipping > Carriers > My contracts and click Add your own contract. Find DHL Freight in the list and click Add contract. Here you can add the credentials needed to validate the connection to the carrier.

Important: We recommend to connect two contracts, one with the sandbox credentials and one with the production credentials. Once everything works in the sandbox environment and if the carrier has prevalidated the integration with Sendcloud, you can connect your contract in Sendcloud and use it in production mode. We suggest you to give them different names (E.g. Contract 1 is called "Sandbox contract" and Contract 2 is called "Production contract"). 

Step 3: Enter your DHL Freight contract information

In order to activate your DHL Freight contract, fill in the following fields and do not forget to click Add this contract:

  • Contract name: This field is optional. You can give a name to the contract in Sendcloud, for example "My DHL Freight contract".
  • Cut-off time
  • Client ID
  • Password
  • Customer Account Number

Pre-production validation

  • Pre-production validation: If you are integrating the "sandbox contract", make sure you check the box Pre-production validation to connect to the pre-production environment.

Consignor

Only add consignor details if the shipment's consignor's address is different from the sender address.

  • Use sender as consignor: Check this box if the consignor's address and the sender's address are the same. If they are, there is no need to fill in the consignor credentials.
  • Consignor name
  • Consignor email
  • Consignor telephone
  • Consignor address 1
  • Consignor city
  • Consignor postal code
  • Consignor country (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code)

Finally, you can choose whether you want to upload your own prices to the Sendcloud panel so that you see them when creating labels.

Done! If you have followed the steps described above, your DHL Freight contract should now be successfully linked to your Sendcloud platform and you can begin shipping at your own DHL Freight rates. When you create a label with a DHL Freight shipping method, the label price will now show as 0.00 EUR in your account unless you upload your own prices.
