Purpose: Learn what the Post-Purchase Solution is, how External Parcel Tracking connects your existing shipping setup to Sendcloud, and where to find the relevant setup and feature documentation.

What is the Post-Purchase Solution?

The Post-Purchase Solution is Sendcloud's tracking-led proposition for merchants who already ship at scale using their own carrier contracts and create shipping labels or fulfil orders outside Sendcloud.

Through External Parcel Tracking, shipment tracking data can be shared with Sendcloud and used by supported post-purchase capabilities. The Post-Purchase Solution brings together Tracking, Shipping Intelligence, and Support Automation.

How does External Parcel Tracking fit in?
External Parcel Tracking allows you to use Sendcloud's tracking capabilities without creating the outgoing shipment in Sendcloud. It connects tracking information from shipments created outside Sendcloud with supported post-purchase capabilities.

What can you use with the Post-Purchase Solution?

External Parcel Tracking makes your external shipment data available in Sendcloud. This allows supported post-purchase capabilities to use that tracking information.

The Post-Purchase Solution brings together capabilities from Tracking, Shipping Intelligence, and Support Automation. These features are also available independently in Sendcloud, so their documentation remains in their existing Help Center sections.

Tip: Use the links below to learn more about each feature.

Connect your external shipments to Sendcloud

There are two External Parcel Tracking setups. The setup that applies to you depends on how your shipment tracking information is shared with Sendcloud.

External Parcel Tracking

External Parcel Tracking allows you to track parcels in Sendcloud without creating outgoing shipments. This means you can still use Sendcloud's tracking features when parcels are sent from another system or warehouse.

With External Parcel Tracking, you can:

  • See the status of your parcels in Sendcloud.
  • Receive notifications and updates for your shipments.
  • Automate customer support workflows with Support Automation.
Tip: This setup uses your carrier contract credentials and a Sendcloud API integration to register external parcels for tracking.

Shopify External Parcel Tracking

If you use Shopify, Shopify External Parcel Tracking allows tracking information to be retrieved directly from Shopify fulfillments and shared with Sendcloud without creating shipping labels in Sendcloud.

Sendcloud retrieves the following fulfillment tracking information from Shopify:

  • Carrier
  • Tracking number
  • Tracking URL

The tracking information can then become available for supported post-purchase capabilities, including Sendcloud systems such as Shipping Intelligence and Support Automation.

Please note: Shopify External Parcel Tracking is currently available in Beta. Some post-purchase capabilities are not yet supported because some Sendcloud features are still connected to outgoing shipment or label creation flows.
