Colis Privé surcharges (France and Belgium)

Purpose: View the surcharges of French carrier Colis Privé. You may receive a surcharge if your parcel shipment does not meet the terms and conditions set out by the carrier. 

Fuel surcharge

Colis Privé applies a fuel surcharge to all parcels. This rates changes monthly. See the fuel surcharge percentage for each month on Colis Privé's official website.

Home delivery within France

• Second delivery attempt - 0.35 EUR
  In case the receiver isn't at home and another delivery attempt needs to be made, a surcharge of 0.45 EUR will be invoiced. 
• Manual sorting/oversized parcels - 6.15 EUR
  Shipments corresponding to the following description will be subject to a surcharge of 6.15 EUR.

• Processing of misdirected parcels - 3.30 EUR
• Parcel notice missing - 0.60 EUR
  If the information on the label is missing, incomplete, or inaccurate at the moment of sorting, a surcharge of 0.60 EUR will be charged. Keep in mind: if the missing/incorrect information is the municipality or postcode, another surcharge (seen below) will apply.
• Error for municipality or postcode - 3 EUR
  In case the wrong municipality or postcode is displayed on the label, manual work is required. 
• Incomplete file - 0.55 EUR
  When the recipient's email address or cell phone number is making, you'll be charged 0.55 EUR for an incomplete file.
• Processing of parcels not covered by contract - 60.20 EUR
  When you ship products that are restricted by Colis Privé, you'll receive a surcharge of 60.20 EUR. For this list of restrictions, please see the Colis Privé terms and conditions.

Small Pro Point Relais

• Manual sorting oversized parcels - 6.15 EUR
  Shipments corresponding to the following description will be subject to a surcharge of 6.15 EUR.

• Second delivery attempt - 0.35 EUR
• Parcel notice missing - 0.60 EUR
  Suppose the information on the label is missing, incomplete, or inaccurate at the moment of the initial scan (except due to errors in the municipality or postcode information). In that case, a surcharge of 0.60 EUR will be charged. Keep in mind: if the missing/incorrect information is the municipality or postcode, another surcharge (seen below) will apply.
• Error for municipality or postcode - 3 EUR
  In case the wrong municipality or postcode is displayed on the label, manual work is required. 
• Incomplete file - 0.55 EUR
  When the recipient's email address or cell phone number is making, you'll be charged 0.65 EUR for an incomplete file.
• Notification by SMS (rate per sending) - 0.30 EUR
  For every SMS update Colis Privé sends, a fee of 0.30 EUR will be charged.
• Processing of parcels not covered by contract - 60.20 EUR

  Shipments corresponding to the following description will be subject to a surcharge of 6.15 EUR.

• Signature for delivery - 0.85 EUR
  
• Second delivery attempt - 0.35 EUR
• Parcel notice missing - 0.60 EUR

Billing of Surcharges for Exceeding Weight Limits

When the actual or volumetric weight of a parcel exceeds the limit allowed by the selected shipping method, the carrier applies additional charges.

How do French carriers apply these surcharges?

1. Initial label billing
   • When a user creates a shipping label, the rate is based on the selected weight range.
   • Example: Method X 0-1 kg for a 0.5 kg parcel.
2. Carrier weight verification
   • Upon pickup, the carrier weighs the parcel or applies volumetric weight calculation (L x W x H / 5000).
3. Billing adjustment if the weight is higher
   • If the actual or volumetric weight exceeds the selected range, an additional charge is applied.
   • Example: If the parcel weighs 1.5 kg (or if its volumetric weight is 1.5 kg), the billing is adjusted to the next weight bracket (Method X 1-2 kg).
4. Impact on fuel surcharge

• • In some cases, the recalculated weight also affects the fuel surcharge, which is adjusted accordingly.

Why do users see two charges?

This process may appear as a double charge, but it consists of two separate steps:

✅ First charge: Based on the declared weight when creating the shipping label.
✅ Second charge: Adjustment based on the actual or volumetric weight of the parcel.

The carrier does not charge twice for the same label but applies a correction to reflect the final weight.
